Chargé d'affaires Silliman Hosts Iftar Dinner with Business Organizations in Izmir
The U.S. Embassy Chargé d'affaires Douglas A. Silliman hosted an Iftar Dinner for the leaders of business organizations in Izmir on August 26. The Chairmen of the Izmir Chamber of Commerce, the Aegean Chamber of Industry, the Board of Aegean Industrialists and Businessmen Associations and the Turkish-American Businessmen Association attended the dinner. The group discussed ongoing business activities between Turkish and U.S. businesses in Izmir and the new Framework for Strategic Economic and Commercial Cooperation (FSECC) between Turkey and the U.S.

As luck would have it, I picked the right guy. “I’m a hero”, he told me, “I’m trained to speak about all sections of the store”. A hero is exactly whom I needed to lead me through the hordes of people at the opening of Best Buy’s first European store.
