Ambassador Jeffrey and the U.S. Embassy in Ankara, Turkey welcome you to our web site.  Virtual Presence Posts are a new outreach method of U.S. diplomacy to bring together all the information about the official activities of the United States in a city where we do not have an Embassy or Consular facility.  In addition to launching this website, the U.S. Embassy is highlighting the role that our U.S. Consular Agent and U.S. Foreign and Commercial Service representative can play in helping to make your experience in Turkey a rich and memorable one. 

We hope to use this portal to underscore our commitment to the great city of Izmir. To my fellow American citizens who are visiting Izmir from your Mediterranean cruise ship, I encourage you to visit the beautiful city of Izmir and the historic region, rich in antiquity, beauty and grace.   For those of you who live in Izmir, we hope the website will provide a concise introduction to American education, culture, trade and investment opportunities to Turkish citizens who are looking for ways to grow their business!  And I look forward to meeting you on my travels to the Aegean coast of Turkey!
